C. T. V. L. I. 2021 Virtual Fundraiser

Atlanta, Georgia – The C.T. Vivian Leadership Institute (CTVLI) to honor social activist, Bryan Stevenson, with its inaugural C.T. Vivian Humanitarian Award.

The C.T. Vivian Humanitarian Award was created in honor of Dr. C. T. Vivian, a champion of human rights. Dr. Vivian was a force for social progress in America and around the world. He dedicated his life to fighting injustices and promoting equity. This award recognizes individuals who have made exemplary contributions to enhance the human condition and the common good for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or social status and emulates the values of Dr. Vivian.

Please join us virtually on July 23, 2021, to celebrate Dr. Vivian’s legacy and honor Bryan Stevenson as he discusses his work as founder/executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, an organization committed to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American Society. Mr. Stevenson’s best-selling book, Just Mercy, was adapted into a major motion picture and is a clarion call to action for challenging bias against the poor and people of color.

The C.T. Vivian Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to baseball legend and philanthropist, the late Mr. Henry “Hank” Louis Aaron (posthumously), and his beloved wife, Billye Suber Aaron, for their tremendous contributions and many years of support to the CTVLI and beyond.

Additionally, featured will be the United States Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock, the first African American to represent Georgia in the Senate, and Stacey Abrams, New York Times bestselling author, a voting rights activist, a political leader, and 2018 Democratic nominee for governor of Georgia.

Honorary Chairs are Ambassador and Mrs. Andrew Young.

The C.T. Vivian Leadership Institute (CTVLI) is an Atlanta-based 501c3 non-profit that was founded in 2008 by Dr. C.T. Vivian to Create a Model Leadership Culture in Atlanta. CTVLI is dedicated to developing sustainable programs to revitalize underserved communities and to create a place where all people can thrive.

SPECIAL GUEST

United States Senator The Reverend Raphael Warnock is the first African American to represent Georgia in the Senate and the first African American Democrat elected to a Senate seat by a former state of the confederacy. He chaired the New Georgia Project, a voter registration group Stacey Abrams founded. He is the Senior Pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s former congregation.

SPECIAL GUEST

Stacey Abrams is a New York Times bestselling author, a voting rights activist, and a political leader. She served eleven years in the Georgia House of Representatives,
seven as Minority Leader, and became the 2018 Democratic nominee for governor of Georgia. She is the founder of Fair Fight Action, Fair Count, and the Southern Economic Advancement Project- organizations devoted to voting rights and tackling policy and social issues.
